After water and food, perhaps the next most wanted commodity is energy. Most
of our energy requirements are met through fossil fuel and nuclear energy.
Recently there has been an increase in the amount in so-called renewable
energies such as wind and wave power.
An area that has been around for a long time now is solar energy. Some of its
early promise didn’t come to pass with a requirement for expensive
materials and high maintenance costs; and solar panels relied on sunshine which
is not available at night and is in limited supply in many areas of the world.
Fear not! Technology has not stood still and things are on the move. I
predict for 2006 and over the next few years that there will be a series of
breakthroughs in the field of energy cells that use hydrogen as a fuel. This is
the beginning of the so-called Hydrogen Economy. Some, including the U.S.
President, welcome this as the future of energy production while others
throw cold water on the idea.
Hydrogen can be extracted from many substances, including water. The advantage of hydrogen is its
unusual atomic structure. The great difference in distance and size between the
proton and the electron produces great energy potential. Unfortunately this
attribute gives rise to a great problem: hydrogen tends to stick to other
elements as the wayward electrons become paired with foreign atoms. Extracting
hydrogen from these other elements has hitherto required a great deal of
energy, making the prospect pointless, or at least inefficient - and, if fossil
fuels are used to provide the required energy, the CO2 will still be emitted. There are two ways around this: first to
build large plants that will extract hydrogen on a large scale. The energy
efficiency of large plants would be far greater than cars, for example, which
are like mini mobile power stations.
The second method is to use of Aqueous Phase Reforming. This is where
hydrocarbons such as sugar, can be converted from a liquid into Hydrogen in one
process. The energy required is at a lower proportion than more conventional
hydrogen production methods. There is also no need to store or ship vast
quantities of hydrogen.
If we accept that fuel cell technology - in one form or another - will happen
in the near future (well, it’s happening now, so why not?), the question we
surely need to answer is:
How far should the production of hydrogen be from the point where it is used?
There is much talk of using renewable energy or biomass to provide the
considerable power required to produce hydrogen (to separate it from other
elements, such as with water). Possible examples of this would be vast offshore
wind farms and offshore solar panel farms combined with thousands of acres of
maze or other crop being grown as a bio fuel source. This solution would
involve a network of distributing the hydrogen similar to the one already
employed to distribute petrol - but much bigger and/or much more expensive
- since the lighter hydrogen requires more space - or more force to compress it
- than gas or diesel. It could be cooled down to its liquid form to aid
distribution, but this would require a great deal of extra energy.
The Aqueous Phase Reforming solution - pioneered by the University of
Massachusetts - may allow much more local production of hydrogen and
reduce the need for a large and expensive distribution solution. It can also be
scaled up or down to meet the needs of varying communities and circumstances.
Yes, I am convinced that there will be breakthroughs in this area. I am sure
that the debate about the efficiency and feasibility of hydrogen fuel will
gradually dissolve and a new debate will emerge - about how best to distribute
that energy. Distribution costs money and is a cost to our environment. The
greater the distance between the production and the consumption points, whether
this be hydrogen or anything else, the greater the energy, environmental and
financial cost. If we cut down these distances, we will probably need to settle
for more - and smaller - production plants with a reduction in efficiency,
leading to the same energy, environmental and financial problems. In the case of
hydrogen production, the question is, which method is right? Aqueous Phase Reforming
may provide a solution. Whichever way, the debate rages on…

Budgeting is an important aspect of home ownership. How do you know exactly how much house you can afford? Here is how to evaluate your income to be sure you qualify.
Many financial advisors will tell you that your debt-to-income ratio should be less than 36% of your income. How do you calculate your debt to income ratio, and what does it mean?
The term “debt-to-income ratio” gets thrown around in the financial world quite often; the ratio is simply the amount of your monthly bills against your income. Calculating your debt to income ratio is simple. First, calculate how much money you bring in per month. Next, calculate the amount of your monthly debt obligations.
Include your credit cards, automobile payment, child support, student loans, and any other monthly debts you pay including the amount of the mortgage you are considering.
Lastly, divide the sum of your debts by the total of your monthly income. Most creditors do not want this ratio above 36% in order to approve your mortgage application. If you are above this amount try paying down credit cards to lower your debt-to-income ratio. Once you are under 36% you should not have a problem qualifying for the mortgage.

In my e-book “Articles That Sell”, I’ve shared the secret of marketing your business on the Internet. If you’ve been active in your efforts, you’ve been writing and publishing free reprint articles.
Guess what? I’ve got another incredible marketing secret for you.
While online marketing has unlimited potential it often misses a valuable mark. This missed mark is your own local area. You could be missing out on immediate opportunities to market your expertise through your writing.
Take a discerning look in your own backyard. How many potential business allies do you meet yet overlook each day? Let’s make this simple… begin your day tomorrow with a pen and pad handy. Make a note of each person you encounter throughout your day, whether in-person or by telephone and/or e-mail.
Home: spouse/partner and kids.
Coffee Shop: owner, staff, and business professionals.
Work: parking lot attendant, colleagues and clients.
Gym: staff and other members.
Miscellaneous: banker, attorney, charities and even your competitors.
You get the idea, I’ll stop there. Each of these contacts, even your spouse and kids, presents a potential marketing opportunity. It all depends on your perception.
Let’s examine the marketing value of these relationships.
Spouse/Partner: He/she has a career. Careers come with contacts and we all agree that face-to-face contacts are valuable. This is particularly true in the area of business, but also in the area of professional and social organizations of your own. Writing an article for an organization to which your spouse belongs increases your exposure.
Kids: Most parents are jumping through the hoops of soccer practice, dance lessons and parent-teacher conferences. What coach or teacher wouldn’t love a parent who participates by contributing an article to the team, class or school newsletter? Kids don’t always read these but their parents do. Writing for school-related publications can deliver your name to countless local readers.
Business Associates: Gaining exposure via peers in your own field can be tough, especially if yours is very competitive. Contributing an article to a competitor’s business publication or newsletter creates goodwill. Business publications can be far-reaching and can create immediate recognition of your name within your industry. If you have an associate who is a small business owner with no publication offer your help in creating one. You’re almost certain to be asked to submit an article or given appropriate credit for your expertise.
Waitperson and/or Coffee Shop Owner: These folks are in the trenches and know more business professionals than you may know. Coffee shops play as much a role in business as Board rooms. Regular customers often view the owners and employees as familiar friends. Select a busy coffee shop and frequent it regularly. Establish a friendly rapport with the boss and the staff so that they know you well. As a regular, you’ll benefit if they know about your business as well as the fact that you write. Be personable, carry business cards and tip generously… and don’t be surprised! You can’t buy exposure for the price of a cup of coffee but you can gain recognition by genuinely interacting with others publicly. Never dismiss the potential of a contact who works in any service industry.
Charities/Community Service Organizations: While it’s quicker and easier to write a check, taking your donation to the next level can create a definite presence for you. Since most of these groups are nonprofit offer to contribute a free article. Try one of these article ideas: a piece about the group’s local efforts, a press release about a new fundraising effort or offer to write a regular column that covers the positive impact of the group’s work from the viewpoint of a business professional.
Professional Organizations: You pay your annual membership fee but attend few meetings and/or functions. Sure there’s prestige with membership but anyone bearing proper credentials can join. Treat your membership as an investment, a potentially profitable one by being active within the organization. Out of sight is typically out of mind, so make sure to let people see you regularly. Be the first one to volunteer your business expertise and/or writing services for any projects.
Adjust your focus to the potential rather than the immediate and don’t forget to look in your own backyard for business contacts and opportunities. As your own local awareness increases you will receive reciprocating professional recognition. It’s just a matter of fine-tuning your perspective.

It doesn’t matter if your car is a sports car, an antique car, or even just a plain family car, if you want it safely delivered to you, you will have to find a reliable and affordable transport company that has a car transport package that suits your needs and your budget.
But, when choosing a car transport service you have to be aware of some issues regarding the transport and delivery of such. Transporting something as precious as your car would be suicide if you didn’t take the proper precautions.
Here are some things to look out for when considering a car transport service.
Insurance
Your car is big investment. If you allow your car to be transported carelessly, you could end up with a badly banged up car. To avoid this you can have your transport service insure your car. While doing research on what transport service to hire, always look at the total price plus insurance. It may seem like a waste of money to some, but for those who have experienced having their cars shipped to them with dents, scratches, and - gasp - other major damage; insurance will seem like a welcome advice.
Know What Type of Transport You are Dealing With
There are quite a few options on how to have your car delivered. You can have door-to-door, enclosed, open, terminal-to-terminal, and rail service among others. Some of these options may have features that you do not need, or features that are more than what you need. Make sure you understand the details of each option and choose one according to your needs.
Schedule
You have to be clear on the schedules of pick up and delivery.
Pick up time is the amount of time it takes from receipt of the order to transport until your automobile is loaded unto the trailer. This time is usually 2 and 10 days. Transport services appreciate a three day allowance to find a trailer and assign your car to that trailer.
Transit time will take about 8-10 days. This depends on the destination and route taken. These trailers will usually carry about ten automobiles at the same time. And as me makes the necessary stops to deliver each automobile, he could use up a lot of time. So, it would do well to be patient during these times.
When you and your car transport service come to terms on the dates, reinforce the fact that your will be expecting punctuality in the delivery and pickup. You might also want to consider whether the company allows you to cancel the transaction if they are late for pick up, or to refund a certain amount if they deliver you car late, or with damage.
If they are to be delayed, your car transport service should inform you ahead of time so you will not have to waste anytime fussing over what happened to your car.
Report, Report, Report
It pays to have everything documented and in paper. Have the transport service inspect your car before and after transport so you can assess whether there was any damage sustained during the process. They should check the condition of the car and note this all down in paper. This is standard operating procedure for many of the car transport services around.
Conclusion
Finding the appropriate car transport trailer to fit your specific needs and budget should be an easy task providing that you know you budget limitations, special travel requirements for your car, and length of trip. In today’s market there are literally hundreds of car transport trailer options out there, and you can count on finding the right one for you in no time at all.
The size of the car transport company is not the deciding factor. What really decides whether you can trust your transport service is the skill and track record of the service. Always investigate the past transactions of the transport outfit to see if there are any potential problems regarding their service.
Now you are all armed and a bit more knowledgeable in these matters. Car transport will now lose most of the ’scary-ness’ you had attached to it, thanks to added knowledge! Use this knowledge wisely and enjoy a worry-free car transport!

The Internet has become the ultimate medium for communication amongst humans. When it first began, websites were predominantly written in English, but over time all the major languages in the world have voiced themselves to their fellow tongued colleagues and brethren. There is a new technology on the Internet that although in its early development, could revolutionalize communication on our planet: Universal translation software.
If you’ve read ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ you’ll recall the science-fiction idea of the Babel fish. You take a small fish and put it in your ear and then automatically you can understand any language in the whole Universe in your own tongue. Pretty unbelievable stuff huh! But now on the Web there are numerous sites that are turning this dream into a reality. One of the main sites is http://world.altavista.com/tr where they actually call their service ‘Babel fish Translation’.
There are two main options on this site that you can try out for free. The first is to insert 500 words at a time in your native language, choose the language you want to interpret to, and push the ‘translate’ button. For example, say you’ve met a French person through a website dedicated to healthy living and you want to send them your recipe for Grandma’s famous vegetarian soup, but you speak English. Just push the English-French option, paste the recipe in, and in a few seconds, wow, it’s right in front of you ready to send in French! Now don’t get me wrong, this concept is in its infancy so the language is far from a perfect grammatical interpretation, however it will definitely get the main ideas across to this person who otherwise you wouldn’t have been able to communicate with. If you were in the same town or city you could use body language, or see each other a webcam, but I think it would look a little strange watching someone miming out the actions of how to chop up a carrot!
The second option is for translating a whole website. Say you’ve got a website for your e-commerce business exporting a new kind of deodorant, but in this instance you are a French person (a country know for its fine scents) and you would like to enter the Japanese online market as you are well aware that they have a strong stigma against body odor. Well, just click on French-Japanese, put in your web address, and in a few seconds, bang, the whole site has been interpreted into Japanese. You can then add a Ja/ at the end of your address thus making a whole new website just for Japanese speaking people. To do this you may have to download a Japanese language pack from your computer but that shouldn’t be much of a problem
Some people may complain that your language is bad, or get some misinterpretations of ideas because of the newness of this technology, but I do think it can be very useful. You can have some contact with people and information that otherwise may have been totally impossible before. When the concept is evolved further, as is the case with all worthwhile technological additions to human society, I believe the results will be spectacular.
Imagine anyone and everyone being able to connect and read each other’s ideas and information. Humanity could reach a level of understanding and appreciation of each other’s differences that then could have huge effects that resound across perceived boundaries bringing everyone much closer together. Hey, maybe one day we could all realize that we are all human beings, all individuals, and all from the same place: Earth.

If we remember the medieval history of the world, there were valiant knights who saved damsels in distress. Remember Sir Arthur and Knights of the Round Table? In today’s world a women gets molested and harassed domestically as well as in workplace and these issues go without any notice. Domestic violence sometimes even takes place right in public places. We feel sorry for the poor lady but we just go on with our lives. Where have all those knights gone? How much do these damsels require knights now?
The reason for such violence widespread against women is beyond reasoning. This type of violence is not just limited to poor people living in third world countries but it is prevalent in the developed world as well. Why women are subjected to such violence and by whom they receive this treatment from needs to be researched upon so those women can be given solutions. Just because men are labelled as stronger sex does not mean that they have to control and mistreat the weaker sex.
The bible talks about the creation of Eve after Adam. Since then, Eve has been thought of as Adam’s toy, and all the Adams after him have become harsher to Eve by devising more and more cunning ways to abuse her. Can this be the fault of their hormones? Dominating males have made sure that their chauvinistic process will keep the women living on a meager existence as second grade citizens. During the passage of time, gross injustices against women were abolished one by one. Take for example the child marriages and sati system of India. Widows are now allowed to remarry instead of being forced to spend their lives in confinement wishing their lives away. Domestic violence has also become a punishable crime yet violence against women continues under the radar.
The independent modern woman is college educated, has a good income, is self-supporting, and can go wherever she wants. However, the respect she deserves still eludes her. The population of men who support their women full-heartedly is very less compared those who support their women grudgingly. There is something about the male ego that finds it difficult to accept that women can be their equal and that they can them the respect that they deserve.
The media can be partially blamed too, for they have corroded the values, morals, and ethics that are necessary to establish respect for women. Instead of respecting women for their intelligence, the media portrays them as objects of lust. For the sake of ratings, the media promotes the dilemma of women in exchange for her vanity, integrity, a feeling of being wanted, and false pride. Many women fall for these tricks. One thing is for sure: if the modern woman wants to get the respect she deserves and wants to stop the violence against her, she must wake up to these tricks, for she has a hard and hazardous road in front of her and her kind.

The numbers of work at home moms have increased dramatically over the last several years. There are several reasons for this phenomenon, not the least of which is the ability to use current technology not previously available.
The internet, along with a wide variety of tools, now allow moms working from home greater freedom to pursue their careers while tending to the needs of their family. In the past, mothers whose families required a second income often found it necessary to return to the work force. This required a great change in their lifestyle. They often found themselves facing long and difficult commutes, along with the emotional upheaval of leaving their precious little ones in day care.
So it is not surprising today to see more and more moms who work from home. Some moms who work at home have been able to do so by making arrangements with their employer that allows them to do most, if not all, of their job from home.
Others have left the outside job market entirely to pursue a home based business. Some have found success in the more traditional direct sales businesses that have been around for many years.
But internet marketing has also opened up opportunities for mothers to work at home. Setting up a website and marketing via affiliate programs has opened up possibilities unheard of for previous generations of stay at home moms. As more and more young mothers yearn for the freedom from the rat race, they look toward technology and the internet specifically to release them from the need to pursue employment outside the home.
As this new generation of mothers learns that working outside the home is not as glamorous or as fulfilling as they have often been led to believe, more and more of them, both married and single, are turning to technology to earn an income from home while allowing them to be available to their children.
As technology advances, no doubt we will see more and more mothers who take advantage of the opportunities provided in this new marketplace. The freedom to stay at home with their children is a gift that they have been given, and many young mothers are taking full advantage of it.
No doubt their numbers will continue to grow.
Down-sized? Under-employed? Or would you just like to add to your present income? Then you need to visit http://www.homebizjunction.com to discover all the possibilities for creating an income from the comfort of your home. Learn how to escape the rat race once and for all!

The career climate for women is changing - many mums are successfully fitting work around their home and family life. Today, there are almost one million women-owned businesses in the UK, making up over a quarter of all firms, and the numbers are growing. According to the Office for National Statistics, around half a million women work from home. One particular growth area is online business, which enables many mums who want to pursue a career, or continue to make money, the opportunity to work from home.
I have just returned to my “proper” job as a Training Consultant after taking 10 months maternity leave to look after wee Finn (10 months) and Jared (2). I did return to work between my pregnancies, however, I hoped it would be for a short time as I was keen to have a small age gap between my two children. Happily for me, and to the dismay of my manager, pregnancy two happened when I had been back at work for a month. I managed to work July 2003 to June 2004, so I was an asset to the company for nearly a year between the boys, and actually quite enjoyed it, however I always knew I was finishing for another extended “holiday” and that kept me chirpy. I have really enjoyed spending the past 10 months at home with my boys and my return to work this time was not so buoyant. For the few months in the run up to my return, I have been trying to hatch the perfect plan to work less hours and make money by doing something I really enjoy. I know I won’t be able to replace my “proper job” salary overnight, but my aim is to start small and aim to make enough money to leave my job by the time Jared goes to school (which gives me a three year window). I have this idealistic vision of me walking the boys up to school, going home and working on my business and then being able to go back and pick them up after school and take them to a wide range after school activities.
So in pursuit of this dream, I have been researching ways to become a WAHM. My starting point was my obsession with selling stuff on eBay. Just old tat which had been lying around the house, but I was constantly amazed by the amount of money that I could generate from selling things that would have previously ended up in the bin. The only problem with using eBay as a sole income provider is that I am running out of things I don’t need. A brief foray into buying goods to sell on for a profit ended rather disastrously with 7 massive boxes of greetings cards from Costco still sitting in the corner of my bedroom. So my plan evolved into creating something that people would want to buy.
Step one was coming up with an idea. I have always enjoyed ‘crafty’ things and I knew I wanted to make something. Finn had recently been christened and a few friends had mentioned to me that they had struggled to find an unusual gift, so I started to make a list of personalised Christening/naming presents.
A friend told me about a fantastic Christening gift that she had received for her son’s Christening. It was a homemade gift that comprised of a wooden chopping board, cut in half, with a stick nailed to it and an engraved plaque glued to the board. The detail on the plaque was her son’s name and the date of his christening. The wooden stake was designed to be placed in front of a newly planted tree to make the occasion. I loved the sentiment of the gift and tried to find something similar on the internet. Surprisingly, I could not find anything remotely like it so, with my friend’s approval, the business opportunity was born.
Setting up the business was step two. I have another friend, Laura who has had a successful WAHM business for several years. She was a major inspiration as she has a really successful business selling baby slings on the internet. She manages to balance running her business and caring for her children (who are just slightly older than Jared and Finn) and is living proof that it is possible to be a ’supermum’. Laura has been my mentor and I have really benefited from her advice and experience as I have gone through the process of setting up my company.
So over the past few months I have learned all about weatherproof metals, laser cutting, engraving, gift packaging, tax, data protection, website design and advertising. It has been a very busy period and laterally has coincided with my return to work, but it is amazing how I can always find a little bit if energy to do things for my own business and I am pretty much ready to launch.
I have been pretty obsessed with making this work and have discussed it relentlessly with friends and family. It is through discussions with friends that the purpose of the gift has expanded from solely baby related, to wider celebrations and memorials. It is equally suitable for celebrating a birth, wedding, significant birthday or the one that was a surprise to me, a few people have requested a plaque to mark the grave of a dead pet. The enthusiasm I have encountered for this product has kept me motivated to make these plaques more widely available. I hope people like them, I really hope I can realise my dream of picking my two wee boys up from school. It would also be nice if I made a million, but nothing is more important that having enough time to appreciate the wonder of your children growing up and I just hope I can be around more to enjoy it.
I really feel like I am following a dream. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. I have wanted to work flexibly since I got pregnant with Jared. It has taken more than two years for make it happen. The ability to dream is a quality possessed only by humans. So dream, and make it a goal by adding a deadline to it, make it a giant dream, a little one, an old one, a new one, a hobby related one, a change of life one, a stupid one, a stroke-of-genius one, or just whatever… just continue to dream on… then, go and do it. Life is not a rehearsal!
Oh and if you want to buy a gift for a special occasion….

Every day millions of women search the internet looking for the earning opportunities online. It is quite unfortunate that many people think that it is not possible to earn on internet, as there are thousands of scam people out there who had spoiled the home internet business market considerably. People do not have many hopes to earn online.
What is the scope for getting genuine home based jobs for mothers? Moms need to stay at home looking after their children. At the same time, they want to earn a few bucks to fulfill their needs on their own. That is why millions of moms search the internet looking for legitimate online jobs. However, how many moms succeed in getting genuine home based jobs?
It is true that are some legitimate home based jobs for mothers out there. Nevertheless, it is not easy to find out the legitimate internet home business. It is indeed a tough job because you have to identify few legitimate sites from thousands of scam sites on the internet. How to identify the genuine sites? There are some simple ways, which will help you to find out the genuine earning opportunities.
Data entry, participating in surveys, telemarketing and affiliate programs are some of the home based jobs for mothers. It is very unfortunate that most of the data entry opportunities out there are scams. They promise a lot and in reality, you will not be able to earn money. You will lose your money and your precious time and end up with frustrations and disappointments.
At the same time, more and more women are looking forward for internet home business opportunities everyday. They need to do a bit of research on the internet to get the desired results. They should read the reviews on various programs at standard international sites. They can read the articles on home based jobs for mothers at reputed international sites. When you read more articles and more reviews you will definitely get some idea about internet home business. It is always better to join the programs, which do not ask you to pay any upfront money. Most of the companies, which ask for upfront money, are scams only.
However, a few legitimate companies ask for a nominal amount to meet their recurring expenses. If you are sure about their past performance and track, you can pay them and start the work. If you have, some doubts about a particular company you can always verify its credibility with some sites that are having the list of scam sites. They will be able to tell you whether a site is legitimate or not.
My honest opinion is that all moms can earn extra cash online if they are willing to work hard intelligently for a reasonable period. Earning extra money on internet is definitely a reality if they work diligently with the tips given in this article.

Should your teen get a job? Perhaps. If you have the perfect situation and your teen is excited about the opportunity, then go for it. You know your child better than anyone, and many special needs teens do very well working for others.
However, if you are uneasy about sending your teen off to a job, then have you considered the possibility of starting a home business with your teen?
Think about it. You and your teen can work together. You can help him or her to learn about responsibility, customer service, sales, marketing and book keeping.
Here are some ideas to consider:
1. Pet Sitting or Grooming. If your teen loves animals (and doesn’t have allergies), pet sitting can be the perfect way for your teen to make money and build self-esteem in the process. The only critical thing here is that you have to make sure they are meeting their appointments. Depending on your teen’s level of responsibility, you may be driving and, possibly going with them. An alternative, of course, is to bring the pet to your home, if that’s an option.
2. Yard work. Raking, weeding, spreading mulch. All of these things can pay quite well for a teen. In fact, your teen could easily make more money per hour than many of his classmates who have regular hourly jobs.
3. Pooper scooper. Yes, you read that right. Yards get messy. People are busy. It’s a perfect fit. It’s not the most pleasant work, but, it is work that you can do on your own schedule. It’s flexible and it pays well.
4. Elderly care. Stop by once a day, to bring in their paper, take out their garbage, and check in.
These are just a few of the many ways you and your teen can build a business together. Please, if your teen can not function in a fast paced job like McDonalds or a Movie Theater, then don’t force it. There are ways to help your child to learn the skills needed to become an entrepreneur instead.
Alexa Simmons invites you to visit http://www.AspergerResources.com - where you’ll find a growing collection of information to help you and the child you love. She recommends http://www.ShowKidstheMoney.com for more ways to start a business with your child.
